The 100 oyster platter for parties, weddings, and crowds who came to actually eat. Built for the room that needs the appetizer to feed everyone and still be worth talking about the next day.
What’s on the platter
- 100 freshly shucked oysters on a bed of ice
- ‘Wandering Mollusk’ mignonette
- ‘Wandering Mollusk’ pickled pepper hot sauce
- Lemons
- Fresh horseradish
Who it’s for
For weddings, anniversaries, milestone birthdays, retirements, holiday parties. For groups of 10 to 15 where you want everyone to get their fill. For the host who would rather over-order than apologize. For the room that’s going to remember whatever shows up first.
A 100 oyster platter sounds like a lot until you see how fast they go.
Local sourcing
Oysters are sourced from Pacific Northwest farms we work with year-round, depending on season and availability. For larger orders we coordinate harvest a few days ahead to get the count, sizes, and varieties right. The mignonette and pickled pepper hot sauce are our own recipes, made in-house. The horseradish is fresh grated, never out of a jar.
Why locals order it
Captain’s Platter is the platter caterers ask us about. We shuck the oysters the morning of pickup. The platter is built to travel, hold its ice, and serve without a chef on site. For weddings and large events specifically, this 100 oyster platter is the easiest hands-off centerpiece for cocktail hour.
If your event needs more than 100 oysters or you want a custom catering build with our shucking team on site, get in touch through wanderingmollusk.com/services. We do that work routinely.
What to drink with it
At a party scale, the bar setup matters more than the perfect pairing, but if you’re planning the drinks list around the oysters, we suggest a sparkling wine, a dry Muscadet or Chablis on the white side, or a clean BC Riesling. Beer drinkers, a pilsner or a stout works depending on appetite. Cocktail hour, a martini or a classic gin and tonic.
